“I’ve learned how important I am.”

The above testimony from one of our students perfectly captures the purpose of ARYSE.

Since launching PRYSE Academy in 2013, ARYSE has served nearly 300 youth with immigrant and refugee backgrounds living in Allegheny County. According to data collected over the years from surveys, interviews, and focus groups, we know that our programs provide youth with academic support, exposure to the arts, exploration of career pathways, mentorship, and a sense of belonging they are largely unable to access anywhere else in the region.

What we are most proud of at ARYSE is the ownership our students have of our work and organizational growth. Integrated into each of our programs are opportunities and clear pathways for students to take their place as leaders and role models. With each year, more and more of our students and program alumni are applying for internships and jobs with ARYSE, pursuing higher education, volunteering, and engaging deeply in community. Despite challenges and barriers unique to immigrant communities, our students are pursuing their dreams and embracing their joy and cultural identities every step of the way.
